Henri Bendel: Luxury Meets Style

It's no secret that I am absolutely in love with everything and anything Henri Bendel. I often feature their products in my posts, so I decided that I would make one cumulative blog post to encompass my favorite brand. The classic all-American store is not only an amazing luxury store, but also comes with quite a bit of history.

History of Henri Bendel

Henri Bendel was founded in 1895, making it a 122 year old company. It was born in the heart of New York City, so of course, the brand exudes style and class. Bendel decided on the classic white and brown stripes to be the staple of his company; the pattern is incorporated into many of the brand's products, and is showcased on their shopping bags and boxes. A little known fact about Bendel's is that it carried more than just apparel and accessories in the early 1900s- many stores also sold cosmetics, skincare, lingerie, and even bridal. The company was showcased in many shows and movies, one of which, was Gossip Girl. To this day it remains a luxury brand that we just can't get enough of!

Why It's My Favorite Brand

There are obviously many, many brands that carry beautiful luxury accessories, such as Yves Saint Laurent (for example), and Gucci. Without a doubt, the quality of their bags are spectacular. However, Henri Bendel is different than these luxury brands in that you really get the bang for your buck from this store. A leather crossbody bag from YSL will cost you about $1,190, while a leather crossbody from Henri Bendel will cost you around $200. Granted, the price of a YSL bag can partially be attributed to the fact that it is YSL- the name that is on the bag makes the bag more expensive. This is called "brand appeal", or "status". While Henri Bendel is not as well known as YSL, their products are more diverse and multifunctional than those of YSL. A bag that you can get at YSL (for example) can cost you 5 times more than a very similar bag from Henri Bendel.
